Matt Borger is an experienced commercial litigator, trusted advisor, and complex problem solver. His expertise includes all aspects of state and federal civil litigation. Representative matters include business disputes, employment matters, restrictive covenant disputes, internal investigations, and contract negotiation. His general civil work includes trusts and estates, securities filings, and real estate matters.
Matt is currently representing a 50% owner of an LLC in a business divorce dispute.
He acts as outside general counsel to a Bala Cynwyd-based audit firm by preparing operating agreements and transaction documents, reviewing leases, and representing the firm in litigation and grand jury appearances.
Matt recently defended an agricultural cooperative in a federal antitrust class action. He successfully settled plaintiffs’ price fixing claims that were potentially worth over $100 million for $50,000.
Matt’s bankruptcy experience includes representing debtors, secured creditors, unsecured creditors, and creditors’ committees, in chapter 11 cases, chapter 7 cases, and in workouts.
Matt recently defended a Philadelphia law firm in federal court against claims related to work of a former partner. He represented a New York-based financial guaranty company as both plaintiff and defendant in several pieces of litigation in the workout of a $110 million insurance exposure.
Matt graduated from Bates College magna cum laude with a degree in European History followed by Cornell Law School. Matt also has an L.L.M. in trial advocacy from Temple University School of Law. He started his legal career with a Wall Street firm in New York and a firm in Washington, DC before moving to the Philadelphia suburbs.
Matt has lived in Chester County for over twenty years. He and his wife Ann Juliano have three daughters who attend Great Valley High School and Great Valley Middle School. When he isn’t working, he’s most likely either skiing or at the shore.
